Little Ben: Halves v Uston SS

I need some advice (or perhaps a good slap in the face). I was told some months back to get familiar with two counting methods; one to use at a busy multi-deck game and the second to ?shine? when the table is quiet.
I primarily use the Hi-lo, but have been looking at more powerful systems. The two counts I had in mind were the 'Wong Halves' and the 'Uston SS'.

So. In the opinion of the forum: Am I wasting my time learning other counting methods and if not, what are the advantages and disadvantage of the Uston SS?

    Sorry to be a pain.

    Little Ben.

Uston S.S. is a very poor count for any game.

Halves is very powerful but not worth the effort.

I suggest Hi-Opt II or ZEN

I've got 'World's Greatest Blackjack' laying around somewhere, I'll have to dig it out.

    Thanks for the info

To use a different count for different crowd conditions doesn't make much sense. You can't make any money in a single deck game when the table is full so scratch that. A shoe game you have to always assume is full, but crowds are more tolerable in a shoe game. The biggest detriment they have is slowing things down. The most important skill in playing shoe is getting out of bad counts and finding another table, all so much more important than what count you use.

Any mistakes you make will heavily outweigh the advantages of any count, so my advice to you would be to start out with High-Low and/or KO and see exactly what you are capable of doing at a table in a live casino with real money, before you even think about using such systems as SS or Halves. (I've used both systems to relieve boredom, they work perfectly well but probably not worthwhile.) You'll also want to get simulator software and see what you get when you use the various systems. You'll be pleasantly surprised to see that using a proper spread and getting in and out of the game at the right time with a basic count will make you a lot more money than not doing these things with an advanced one.

Thanks for the tip. I'm quite comfortable with the Hi-Lo so I thought I?d be adventurous. I suppose the KISS theory is the way forward.

    Cheers

FLASH: Go with ZEN, Little Ben

The Zen Count is the best way to go if you are switching between shoe games and 2-deckers.
