Designated Driver: Getting rated when Wonging

I hope this isn't a stupid question, but how do you get rated when you are "wonging" and playing only in advantageous situations?

Just wondering if it can be done. :-)

I don't generally play for high enough stakes to get comped much of anything valuable to me (I can pay my way through the coffee shop or the buffet line) so I usually don't try and get rated. Also, like your question states, I Wong, a lot, and therefore have felt rating was useless anyway.

I could be way off base here .. but a hard core Wonger, and one wanting to get rated so as to earn decent comps, seem diametrically opposed to me.

    Just my opinion!

Yeah, I mostly agree. But comps can be a good consolation for the disenfranchised counter.

At this level, personally, I'd rather be a franchised wonger than a disenfranchised counter.

Ever hear the term 'horses for courses?'

I think that is what advantage play is all about. You pair the skills you possess, right now, with the opportunities you can find, right now, and play to that expectation.

If that's for comps, great, no shame in that. If that's for a small dollar per hour, no shame there either. Your current skill set, applied against the current opportunites that present, are the only thing you can reasonably expect to earn. Anything else is probably just gambling.

    Good luck in LV.

Actually, no. That's a new one for me. But I know of Mr. Ed. A horse is a horse, Of course, of course. :-O LOL

Sounds like good advice, "horses for courses".

Thanks, I'll be leaving on Sunday...and all the "lady luck" from the Miss America pageant might have already departed.

But I will count on a bit of BJ skill as well. :-)

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
