    gogo: dealer has the option?

In a s17 game, the dealer must stand on Ace and 6.
Does the dealer has the option to hit, when he has ace and 7 showing? Means, he compares his soft 18 with the players cards??

    Thank you

The dealer has no options. He must always play his hand the same way, regardless of the players hands. He must always hit all hands of 16 and below, and stand on all hands of 17 and above.

The only thing that varies at all is how "soft 17" (ace plus cards totaling 6) is played. This is usually printed right on the felt, i.e., "Dealer must hit soft 17" or "Dealer stands on all 17's" and must always be played the same way.

    Sun Runner: and further ..

Even though you did not ask specifically, if given the choice and all other things are equal, play the S17 game and avoid the H17 game.

When the house has the option of hitting their soft 17 (H17) it is marginally worse for you.

    Good luck.
