Is the Generic Basic Strategy in the KO book, that applies to all games and rules recommended here? I notice the strategy tables in Casino Verite' for their "OK" strategy differ in certain ways from those in the KO book. The "Composite Basic Strategy" in Casino Verite' also differs. I'd like to memorize just one basic strategy table that I could use in all rules / conditions for now. Later I would slowly add the top 16 plays variations from KO, and then maybe memorize the strategy mods for different rules.

Fine tuning various basic strategies are not that big of a deal when you are beginning. For instance, I used the multi-deck basic when I started and even used it for handheld games. There are only a few differences and the differences are so slight, you won't lose a whole lot by not being perfect.

With that said, whether you learn a handheld or shoe strategy you need to make sure you KNOW that strategy backwards and forwards, because making a mistake at a bad time could cost you dearly.

As you get more and more experienced, you can start fine-tuning the strategy to various games you play.

Personally, I would learn the correct strategy for the game you mainly play and learn it well.

To make sure you are getting the proper strategy for the game you play, get Don's Basic Strategy cards here...you know they're right for the different games. Stay away from anything sold in the casinos.

Whether you play more shoes or handheld games, just make sure the strategy you learn first, and those that follow, will be learned THOROUGHLY!
