Seemore Scagnetti: Losing in high counts....

It is getting very frustrating. I am finding it harder and harder to fork out $$$ at the high counts because I almost always lose! It seems I win more in the low counts ...damn!

I start questioning my abilities .
Now the past 8 trips I was only ahead on two...and on thoose two I wasn't ahead by much.
So I try to scrutinize my play. I spend one to two hours a nite practicing on CVBJ. I turn up the speed play full Indices on Mavin with the counters ruin mode and I do fine.

Then I look at my bank role for the past 4 months and its disappearing...down 80%....

I know the answer is S.D. But I'm not far from ruin, and it so hard to accept that with a 5% ROR I may be one of the 5.
    Oh well...just had to vent.

The Theme of Card Counting should be Wild Swings and Indigestion. This really isn't all that uncommon, Let me give you some of my recent experiences and I hope this will give you a ray of hope. ALso I hope that since your BR has been reduced by such a great ammount you have also recalculated the ammount you are betting.

This is my last 7 days Jouranl, I play full time, and this is a typical weeks for me.

    Sunday the 19th:
Went to day shift at ***********, got my clock cleaned for 3 hours, left in total discgust down 100 units. Just seemed to be pushing my 20's and getting bad hands in the high counts, frustrating, but on to better deviations. Went down the street to ************ games were packed all my precious DD games were full, the 6D only had 2 players at it, so I gave a go with backcounting, RC ran to +11 with 4 decks remaining jumped in and ran off the rest of the deck for an 80 unit win. Dealer played tattle tale on me with the PC so left to come back next shift. Returned later that evening ran the DD games for 60 units over 4 hours but at one point I was down 80 so very happy with this days work +40 units

    Monday
Went to casino ***********, man that place has been terrible the last 2 days, played their SD got annihalted for 65 units. Went home to take a break. Went back down the street on late shift, hammered the DD game for a while, produced a 56 unit win with lots of wild swings, at one point I was in for 100 units, felt nice to come back. Went back to the casino that has had my number towards morning, finally returned to my winning ways there for a 34 unit win, nice to have back to back winning days, but only 30 units today.

    Tuesday
Took day off to go shopping

    Wednesday
Didn't feel like playing today, but the wife made me go in:-(, played for only 2 hours, lots of variance left up 31 units.

    Thursday
Casinos definitely think its better to receive than give, alot of variance couldn't buy a 20 in 10 hours of play managed to work to just being down 20 units, but man did I need some rolaids tonight.

    Friday Christmas Eve
Wild day, spent pretty much all day and night and into christmas morning jumping casinos. Figured I would take advantage of the uncrowded tables.... Another bad day that didn't turn good until well after midnight. at one point I was down 160 units after 8 hours, suddenly the train turned around and got on the right track, ended up with a 30 unit win by 5 AM...

    Saturday Christmas
Tables were empty, found my favorite dealer who just happens to deal about 80 cards out of a DD. No heat at all today, some poor ploppie got lucky on the roulette wheel and then took his winnings to blackjack and was betting chunky black, all 5 pit monkies were focused on this guy... I only played 2 hours again, it was christmas after all, a 40 unit win, thanks for the gift deviation...

    Week Results + 151 units
    Total Hours played 32
    Expectation 160 units
    Unit Size 10$
    Win in $'s 1,510
    Expectation 1,600
    SD spread 10 - 80 SCORE 251
    DD spread 10 - 100(sometimes 120) SCORE 153
    6D spread 10 - 160 Unkown, first time I ever backcounted haven't researched

So you see its a CRAZY game, you need a strong stomach, and nerves of steel to play the game right. minute to minute your bankroll fluctuates.

But please if you haven't already, recalculate your correct unit size based on your current BR, if you haven't done this yet, I would bet your RoR is near 70% or more.

as much as possible to accom. my shrinking BR.
I know the swings are inevitable...I just had to vent. It is comforting to know we all go through the same BS.

    let us be honest.

There is a way to deal with this and I have implemented it with great success. Of course it depends on the game you are playing.

Just think about it, be creative.

    Regards,
    Ouchez.

Interesting reply Ouchez. Be creative? Give me a hint. I went out again the other nite 5 diff. Casinos, play at 4(crappy pen at the 5th) and lost at each one...
thought a diff. venue would appease the BJ gods...no luck (and no pun). I understand the variance will flip...but till it does I'll have to medicate...or electro-shock, or is it the scream therapy that works? Maybe all three Ha!

This is something everyone has to overcome. You have to be a machine. When the count warrants it, you must put out the money. I try to disassociate myself with the chip's value. It's hard, but I keep telling myself when I lose big bet after big bet, to keep putting it out, the numbers don't lie. Sure enough, I will hit a few big bets and things will turn.

And don't complain about winning in low counts. Anytime you win, be thankful. It's those low count wins that can keep you in the game and buy you some time to get the big bets rolling again.

    > Now the past 8 trips I was only ahead on

Could it be a lack of agressiveness? You did say that you are "finding it harder and harder to fork out $$$ at the high counts because I almost always lose!".

We have a small advantage and if we do not play our game the way we should, it will affect our results. If you are gun-shy and not putting out the money like you should, perhaps that has something to do with your results. Of course, it can be nothing but "Mother Flux" sinking her teeth into you, as well.

    > Oh well...just had to vent.

Yeah, I know the feeling. Hang in there, the cards will get better, they always do.
