Aaron Oz: Abbrev. Definitions?
Is there a post that defines abbreviations/acronyms for BJ?
For example: S17, DAS, DOA...
S17 I believe to be soft 17 which I think refers to the dealer having to hit a soft 17?
BTW - A dealer hitting on S17 is NOT a desireable situation, is it?

See above. Or below.

You have it backwards. S17 means that the dealer must Stand on all 17's. H17 means that the dealer must Hit soft 17.
DOA means that the player may Double On Any first two cards.
DAS means the Doubling After Splitting is allowed.

No. The dealer standing on soft 17 is better for the player.

Aaron Oz: Thanks, next step: How do you know?
The FAQ... a great resource, I'm studying it now. Thanks for the answers too.
Final related question: What's the 'proper' way to discover what play is acceptable at a certain table? Do you ask the dealer about each of these acronyms before play, or just try something and wait for the dealer to correct you --if they catch it? I've never seen any information posted regarding table rules, other than the min/max.
And ultimately, are there legal issues if a dealer accidently let's something happen that shouldn't have happened?
