ETZ: Not a natural after a split

I was looking at one of the online casinos today and it had a rule that said after splitting aces and then getting a 10 that it counts as 21 and not a blackjack.

    Two questions:

    1. Is this common? This isn't how it happens in casino's is it? Ot am I living in the dark?

    2. What is the change in house advantage for this rule.

Thanks in advance for any help.

Well, you're obviously not living in a casino! A blackjack is when your first two dealt cards are an ace and a ten value card. Period. Anything else is just 21. This is pretty much universal, at least in real-world casinos (I don't know about online).

Dunno. All published house advantage figures assume that a ten on an ace after a split is merely 21.

Hell, it's getting more difficult to even find casinos that still pay 3:2 on the customary first-two-card blackjack!

Thanks for the response. You are right I'm not living in the casino yet. with clarly good reason. Funny how you can learn a lot of things but miss something so basic.

    Thanks again.
