    Jimmakos: Simple Questions

    Greetings.

The Game: ENHC, DAS, Double any card, No resplitting, No resplitting Aces, 6-Deck, 83% penetration, No shuffle tracking, No surrender, Play up to 3 hands, Min=10 Max=500.

    The Count: Hi-Lo
    Variations: All indices -10, +10 (Wong's PBJ)
    The Bankroll: 7000
The Available Funds: 16000 (and in 6 months they will be 26000)
    The Questions:

    1) When should I bet my maximum bet? At TC=5? Or maybe 6? Up to now I bet like:

    (1 hand)
    2 : 30
    3 : 55
    4 : 85
    5 : 110
    6 : 140
    7 : 170

    (2 hands)
    2 : 20
    3 : 40
    4 : 60
    5 : 80
    6 : 100
    7 : 120

    (3 hands)
    2 : 15
    3 : 30
    4 : 50
    5 : 65
    6 : 80
    7 : 95

Obviously I spread till true count reaches 7, is that good?

I use 80% for one hand, 57% for two hands and 45% for three hands.

    2) When playing alone I play one hand when TC<=1 and for TC>=2 I play two hands. When the cut card is about to come out, I play three hands. Am I correct?

    3) When playing with others I play my hand and when TC gets above 2, I bet on two others' hands instead of opening new hand. Am I correct?

    4) How can I calculate my ROR? Is there a simple equation? My additional funds help me reduce it, am I correct?

    5) I am quite young and play everyday for 10-12 hours for the last 3 months. Before that I was "wonging" and made 2500 in 6 months. Starting with that 2500, I have come up to where I stand now. Considering these money is all I have (spending them also for bills, entertainment, etc.) I live a quite life, spending very little till I reach 50000-100000 or more. I'm thinking of working hard in the beginning for some months/years and when I'll be comfortable, I'll start spending a little more. Am I correct?

    6) I do this for a living for a year now, since I don't have any other income. I want to become a pro because I really LOVE blackjack. And a man is a happy man when he does what he really wants and not following orders from others, or following life's patterns. Additionally, I admire those who have made their lives out of nothing and earn lots of money in a very short period of time, am I correct?

    7) The unbalanced count for insurance is: -4Xdecks, (-2 tens), (+1 others), RC>0 bet insurance. For instance, for my conditions, I start counting from -24 and when it gets over 0 I get insurance. Am I correct?

    8) I believe my hourly win rate is about 20-25, am I correct?

Thanks in advance for your immediate answers. You've been more than helpful all this time...

    Have fun playing,
    Jimmakos

PS: Let's not forget that hi-lo is a very easy system which allows me to getting to know a lot of people while counting, and even dating beautiful casino stuff who have no clue about me.

With that bankroll playing one hand, your risk of ruin is a very high 28%. TC 5 is fine for your top bet. But, you're betting too much.

    Jimmakos: Pardon me?

    Well, let's see...

    I have a bankroll of 7000.

For TC=2, I multiply 0,5% (0,005) with 80% (0,8) and with my bankroll and I get the number of 28, right? That's my bet at TC = 2.

Then for TC=3 I do the same but instead of 0,5% I multiply with 1%, right?

Well, why do I have such a high risk of ruin? Shouldn't be 13,5%?

And since I have additional funds so that in case I lose my 7,000 to continue for another 7,000, shouldn't it be lower?

Since playing one hand I reach 170 and my minimum bet is 10, isn't it a 1-17 spread?

If I bet my maximum bet when TC=5 or above (my bet for TC=5 is 110), isn't it a spread of 1-11? And why not betting more when TC is going higher?

And finally... Should I play one hand, two hands or even three hands when TC is over 2?

Thanks for your time and advice Norm, maybe you'll get me out of the darkness I've been all this time...

    Jimmakos: Multiple hands

Hm, okay, my question about multiple hands has been answered at "Blackjack Main", and I have understood that playing multiple hands results to a larger number of hands played per hour, right? So, does this mean that my hourly win rate will increase?

    Thanks again,
    Jimmakos

PS: As a conclusion, I should play multiple hands whenever possible.

What's the 80%? The problem is with your min bet. It should be $5.

    > Well, why do I have such a high risk of

    > And since I have additional funds so that in

Well, if $16,000 is your bankroll - sure you have a 12.4% RoR.

Yes, but the problem with a $7,000 bankroll is that your min bet should be lower, not your max bet higher.

    > And finally... Should I play one hand, two
    > hands or even three hands when TC is over 2?

Well, there really is no hard and fast rule here.

    Don Schlesinger: Variance

The 80% comes from dividing the BR*edge by the variance, which he is assuming is about 1.25 (when, in fact, it's more like 1.33 -- depends on rules).

Yep. CVCX for those rules gets 1.325 and 1.334 at TC 2 and 3.
