Jimmy: 2 to 1 blackjack payoffs.

I have a question regarding 2to 1 bj promotions (paying 2 to 1 rather than 3 to 2 for any blackjack).

I've read that this is basically worth one bet per hour - so that if a person is flatbetting $20 per hand the promotion is basically worth $20 per hour.

    a) What if I was to play 2 hands of $20 each per round? Is this basically worth $40 per hour (simply double the one hand value)?

    b) I assume that this would be worth $20 per hour (if I'm flatbetting $20 per one hand) even if there was a csm (continuous shuffler) or horrible pen.
    Correct?

    c) But what if it was possible to count during the game (no csm)?
Would there be a point where it would be worth betting less than my normal (flat) bet?
Would this be at TC of approximately -5?

    Thanks for your help.

According to CVData, a BS player in a 5:6, H17, DAS game will win $33.43/hour (250 million hands).

Yes. Doubling your bets will double your EV (expected value).

Penetration shouldn't be that important for the BS player, but the number of decks is. As the number of decks decreases, the number of BJ's you will get increases. Seems strange, but it's true. A single deck game with the same rules as above (39:52) yields an EV of $43.50. That's a 30% increase. On the other hand, adding more decks beyond 6 doesn't make that much difference. CVData doesn't simulate infinite decks, but at 8 decks, the EV only drops to $33.20 -- just a $0.23 per hour difference.

Playing Hi-Lo (I18), 5:6, H17, DAS, 2:1 BJ, you have an edge at a TC of -2 (floored). If you walked when the count fell below that, your EV would be $38.53. The additional effort of counting gets you only $5.10 per hour.

    No problem...

Better to play as fast as humanly possible then to waste your time counting this game if you can play twice as fast you double your hourly win rate.
