    Mr. Ed: Lonely Counter

I have yet to come face to face with another counter. How do I meet one?

Clearly not at an on-line public forum. Clearly not IN a casino.

    Coug Fan: What I've done

Post on this and other message boards and include an e-mail address. Also, let people know where you are located (general area). Other counters may start contacting you via e-mail to share game info, etc. After you have traded e-mails for a while, you may feel comfortable contacting each other via phone or in person.

The key is patience. Accept the fact that it is not going to happen overnight. Coug fan's suggestions are good ones. Always use the same "handle" and post an e-mail address so that people can contact you privately if they desire. Open a throwaway web-based e-mail account with hotmail, yahoo, etc.

Be careful. Obviously, casino personnel monitor these boards. Get plenty of info before agreeing to meet someone in person. Remember, in cyberspace, anyone can purport to be anyone.

It takes a long time, and may be slow to get started. However, once you get to know a few people, it tends to snowball.

Several years ago I was in your position. Now, nearly all my friends are fellow advantage players.

Some might argue that this is not necessarily a Good Thing. :-)

About Blackjack: The Forum

BJTF is an advantage player site based on the principles of comity. That is, civil and considerate behavior for the mutual benefit of all involved. The goal of advantage play is the legal extraction of funds from gaming establishments by gaining a mathematic advantage and developing the skills required to use that advantage. To maximize our success, it is important to understand that we are all on the same side. Personal conflicts simply get in the way of our goals.
