    craig r.: learning to count

Could somebody please give me a detailed description on how to learn to count cards? I am learning the hi-lo count. What I mean is, as a beginner how can i go from barely knowing how to count to being able to do it quickly in a casino. I would prefer to learn without software. Thanks for any help with this.
