    dpm123: Don: Reality Check ?

I am seriously considering doing this for money. I am using Hi-Lo and playing at a casino with: S17,DAS,DA2,NoS,67-75% pen. After reviewing your charts in BJ Attack it is: 1)astounding the effect pen has on the game; and 2) somewhat disheartening to see the amount of BJ I would have to play to even modestly increase my bankroll. While reading your book, I've discovered I am way overbetting for my bankroll and have been extremely lucky up to this point.(In some instances betting like I have a $20,000 BR!) When I plug in your numbers (BS=1-8; SD per 100=21.2 & Win per 100=.36) into the BR calc on BJDR.com using a 400 unit BR, it says I have to play over 58000 hands with a prob of success of 75% to increase my BR by 50%. Yet the ROR in your book is 52.9% for this spread!! If I back-count I have to play 4x as long! Is this the hard and fast reality of playing BJ for profit? What are the min acceptable ROR I should play? Is there something I'm missing?

Thanks for all of your work and willingness to share!

This certainly doesn't come from optimal betting! What game are we talking about?

The bet spreads and ramps in the Chapter 10 charts are not all optimal. Some are quite a bit "off," for cover purposes

The numbers you quote come specifically for the play-all 4/6 game (Table 10.11) whose DI of 1.69 ranks it 379th in the charts! You can't even consider playing such a game. Betting optimally (not in the book) your SCORE is slightly above $5!! And, if you were to play all, you would have to spread about 1-20 to achieve a SCORE of roughly $20, which is still horrendous.
