seaturkey: Reno or Vegas
Which would be more profitable for three days of blackjack: Reno or Las Vegas? Or should I just stay home? I use the Advanced Omega II system with a side count of aces. I am comfortable playing single deck "pitch" games and shoe games. I have been playing in mini casinos in the Seattle area with DAS/DOA/H17 rules, variable penetration (at least 75% on six deck games, but only 60% on DD) Red to light green level.

Since you ask which would be more "profitable," and you are playing "red to light green," then you should stay home.
Your home games are not bad, and even if you were to find some truly outstanding games in Reno or Las Vegas, you would not be likely to make enough to offset the cost of airfare, car rental, etc., in three days of play at your level.
Reno has some excellent single deck games.
The overall quality of the games in Las Vegas has deteriorated some as of late, but with over 100 casinos offering blackjack, you can find just about any sort of game you want if you look hard enough.
Besides, talk of wbether a trip of three days length will be "profitable" is sort of pointless, since it is highly unlikely that you will end up winning exactly your EV. It is far more likely that you will wind up winning or losing several times that amount.

Hallo Mr.Parker, I remember, that you also play only 300 hours a year. Don`t you experience the same proplem of playing not enough hours, to kill the standard deviation with the help of the "Expected Value"?

The clock doesn't reset every year. That 300 hours is just added into my lifetime total.
And, while I certainly do not feel that I have reached the "long run," lifetime I am pretty close to expectation, despite a slightly sub-par year.

If your game is single deck I think Reno is the place to go. There are a number of casinos that offer a good game to red to low green players. I like Atlantis, Nugget, Boomtown and Western Village if playing only red. Also Sundowner offers a good game and can usually get a heads up. I play there in short sessions and usually different shifts.
Good luck

Sounds like you know your stuff pretty well. I would vote "Both", as time permits. I also use AOII+Ace for SD and DD. If you are like me and do not mind risking a certain % of your bankroll solely for FUN........a momentary pause for the purists to get over their fainting spell...then short trips should not preclude you from enjoying good games in good locations.
I recently tried going "back" to 6D to escape a heating problem I was having...could not stay awake, even at the Colder temperature.
Good luck!
