    PaddyBoy: new shoe

If you cut the cards in such a way that you see a small card on the bottom and cut near the top of the deck, can you then start the RC at +1

You are correct in that assumption.
If another player cuts a high out of play, start the shoe with a -1(hi-lo).When you cut it is possible(with a twist)to view what will be the bottom card in the next shoe and you must count this also as i'ts never played. If both are low then start the shoe rc+2(hi-lo) or even +8(rapc) if you cut out two fives!
    Be careful though and fast.

I am not familiar with "RAPC". So therein may lay my answer. But my question is this.

Cutting out two fives starts the RC at +2. No problem with that.

Why would "RAPC" give them an add'l bonus, if you will, to +8?

I understand the small cards are good for the dealer, etc however I have historically been happy to see a dealer draw a five as I feel like a five is the dealers "worst" card to possess?

    No?

I got a long way to go!!

The RAPC, Revere Advanced Point Count, is a level-4 advanced count, which counts the five as +4.

How exactly do you do this twist?
When you place the cut card into the decks to be cut place it at an angle and twist the base of the plastic card slightly to your right/left depending on the offered position. This sounds comlicated but after some practice quite the opposite. In the US the dealers are aware of this move and if obvious will not be tolerated but In Asia and Europe I have never had any problems.
The name of the game is speed hence practice.

So do you hold the card with your index and thumb and thenput pressure on the lower part of the card with your ring finger?

    Mister M: Re: twist

If you put the card in with some force but across the cards this will often cause exposure without a twist, but for the twist hold with thumb and index finger and EXACTLY at the time of insertion put pressure upward with the thumb and down with the index finger. This action is simultaneous. There are many variations to this theme.Do you play in the States?

    Mister M: Re: twist

There is just too much scrutiny with sd,dd so I only use this against shoes. In Europe I often lean right over to see the bottom card, twist or insert forcefully to view what will be the new bottom card and usually(6d) ask the dealer to re-insert 42 cards from the back(42 is my age and therefore must be lucky!!)They don't always comply but 5.0/6 is fine too!
I have never had heat on any of the above.
DO NOT TRY THIS IN THE US.
