Moose: Playing first blackjack in 7 months tonight!

As all you know, in Las Vegas I was on the business end of a whoopin. As such, I've been spending the last 7 months catching up on some bills, working double nights at one of the casinos (the backlash from which has brought me here, I might add and trying to put together some scratch.

Well, yesterday was the first payday in a long, long time where all my bills are caught up, my son's pantry is well-packed, my personal debts were paid in full, and I finally had a big chunk of money to restart my fledgling bankroll. It's only $750 CDN (I believe the Canadian dollar is on par with Monopoly money, last time I checked), but it's a start. Yesterday I put $100 of that towards my on-line poker account (I need to chip away at some $1/$2 games to get my mojo back!) and tonight, my friends and I are visiting the Calgary Stampede, and we're going to hit the casino of course.

While they'll be playing whatever crazy game they like to play, I'll be wonging $5-2x$20 in the numerous good low-limit games that will be around, where ES10 gives you a slight edge at TC+1. Of course this is just a start, as I will be finally be in a position to add more to my BR every cheque, but still, since it's the first blackjack I've played in 7 months, it will represent a pretty major step.

If all goes well, expect me back in the Meadows with a vengeance sometime in mid October, which is when my friends and I have our yearly pilgrimage planned for 2002.

Something about the journey of a thousand miles and a single step comes to mind, but this post is soppy enough without me bringing that up.
