I you feel that the pitbosses are watching you is it a good idea to make wrong plays when the count is positive to pretend you are just another ploppy.Plays like hitting stiff hands such as 12 v 4 or 13 v 2 and 12 v 6 in S17 games.Would you be throwing away money doing this or is it worth it for cover.

It is necessary to be extremely careful when doing this. You are indeed giving up considerable EV by using cover plays, and it is important to know exactly how much. Don Schlesinger's Blackjack Attack, 2nd Ed has an excellent chapter on this.

Burning the Tables in Las Vegas, by Ian Andersen, is another good book that discusses the cost of cover plays.

Keep in mind that many pit bosses do not even know correct basic strategy, so you may indeed by throwing away money.

Yeah I was thinking this, the other day I split 4,4 v 5 and the dealer asked are you sure? Also things like A,7 v 10,hitting these looks a bit risky even though it is right(unless you are playing H17 at TC +1)
anyway I am only learning and playing red chip so I suppose I should not deviate from the indices
