Ouchez: A night at the BJ table.........

I have always found that playing BJ is not only a rush by and of itself but also it is a great learning experience on the plane of sociology and psychology.

I had played earlier in the day with a gent that I had not really paid much notice of except that he was a little on the funny side. Now it was midnight and he came and sat at a table with me and 2 regulars. I happened to be sitting next to a women at 3rd base and there was a man at 1st base, who was the womens husband, I sat next to her, talking being friendly etc. The man sitting at the middle of the table, let's just call him "Curt" plays on one to two spots, plays good, for the most part, basic startegy, and for awhile I thought he may actually be an AP, but soon come to the conclusion that he was not. This guy buys alot of high end beers and soon his mouth starts running and he gets more telling, personal, about his life and times. At first he is up with his wife, who is back at a motor home he has brought up for the summer, he also has towed a car behind it and this is what he has drove to the casino, more beers, he tips good. People sit down to play next to him, they come and go and he teaches them the fine points of handling the cards, like telling them to handle them with one hand because the casino does not like the players "finger fu##@*g the cards", Hmmmm. More beers and now I really start to pay attention to this guy and his rap, 47 and retired from working in Criminal Psychology. I call that an early retirement, Hmmmm.

He know begins to wonder about my wife sitting next me, but no, not my wife, the guys at 1st base wife, he comments that I am way too friendly with her and that we "must be swingers" that this just must be the case. But he says that is ok, since he has a lover, not, maybe not a mistress, but it could be a man or a women, "what does it matter" he says, with a big grin. This guy belongs in the series "Deadwood".

He then goes into long rants, over and over about females getting BooB jobs, and how a girl where he worked got one and showed them to him and he felt them and how no women should do that, and this was a topic he would always go back to until I had to wonder what he was really trying to say, what was the underlying point he was trying to make, or just whatever was with this guy! He buys more beers, the dark premium kind, and begins to say how he makes peanut butter and bologna sandwiches for the street people in Ann Arbor and then hands them out, and "what about these women getting Boob Jobs".

He is now acting gay, effiminate talk and actions, and then tells us about his trip out West as a youth and that when he came back from California, it was on a bus that his parents had bought the tickets for because he was not worth a plane ride. At the bus station a guy tried to pick him up, a fat ugly guy, he wanted to take him to a party, this guy was John Wayne Gacy! Now this guy says that he was offended because Gacy was ugly and he thought "can't a good looking guy try to pick me up, not this fat and ugly Gacy!!?". "If I had went with him I would be dead today". "My father has been dead 20 years today, I put flowers on his grave and keep it looking good, hey dad, help me win this BJ game, I am losing all my money!" "See he does nothing for me and I take care of his grave".

"Men are such pigs, all they want is women with Boob jobs!". He pulls out more money and says to the dealer, "I came to play and I am not leaving until I am broke"!

Now it is just him and I at the table and he begins to comment "why is it that every time you raise your bet you have been winning, what kind of f##K are you, I am losing!!!" At this time I thought the dealer would call him on his language but to my surprise never did, late at night and no women around. Now 2 young guys, tattoed, effimainate looking show an interest in the game, and he talks them into sitting down and playing, and they do, and in no time he is calling one of them "sweetie", "honey", leaning into them, showing him how to play his cards etc. It is now 3am and I decide to take my exit, another winning day, something I never take for granted, and a most interesting evening at the table with a very interesting, entertaining and peculiar character, (and a man I think was haunted and deeply bothered by something).

    Regards,
    Ouchez.

    Parker: Not unique to blackjack

    It could have happened anywhere.

    . . . . At least, anywhere alcoholic beverages are served. :-)

    Interesting story.

That's quite a bit of detail to be divulging on an open forum, don't you think? A character that unusual might stand out to the pit as well, and it's a simple matter to check the tapes...

I've enjoyed our banter over the years, and I'd hate to see your career come to a premature conclusion.

Since Ouchez plays from the highlands of Mich. to the deadlands of the Dakota's' any report is dated and located so that few can pinpoint his origin of story.

But then, is Ouchez's tales truth, or stories from a wannabe advantage B.J. player?

Who knows?, stay tuned for the next exciting installment.
