    Buy in amounts?

Any advice about buy in amounts?

If I am spreading from 1 to 10 units, what do you advise? What do you do?

I find my first buy in is 10 to 20 units…looks normal. When I lose all my chips, and I buy in again, I always make sure it’s for at least 5 bets - maybe 50 units if I’m at a max bet - it looks more natural.

    Advice?

ount/I'm small fish. My session bakroll is $500.00. I've been told that I really dont have a $500.00 because if I loose $250.00 I will tend to move to another Table or another casino for my second session. The Only problem is that sometimes I dont leave because I have a high count, and I end up getting into a double down, or a split situation where I loose most of the session roll. I Need to get a bottle of dicipline. I try to limit myself to 3 sessions a day. I also try to never buy in again at the same table, regardless of the count. I dont think I answered the question.

If you start with one green chip, buy in for 300 or so.

Not long ago, a young guy sat down next to me, bought in for 3K, and bet $25 his first bet. I asked him if he was one of Colin's guys. He said yes. Only thing missing was his MIT Blackjack Team sweatshirt.

So Jack, do you buy in for your entire session bankroll? How many units is that? If you are playing at a $10 table, that’s 50 units.

I assume you are at a $5 table spreading 1 to 10, so as a pit boss, I would think a $500 buy in looks suspicious. If you are playing a higher limit table, I would suggest a higher session bankroll, since your ROR will be well over 1%.

I Generally play $25.00 Min Tables, double deck..I Buy in for the full $500.00 so I dont have to keep adding the left overs to what i have on the table to figure out my win or loss. You are right, I am seriously under capitalized, I just dont have the nerve to pluck down $1000.00 for one session. It takes a 100% return to recover from a 50% loss. I guess it boils down to ***** and DICIPLINE. BTW. My spread 1-4. Rarely 4. I have played 16hrs at the same table without being backed off. It wasn't fun.

I would think it more appropriate for a “S” on his tee shirt - for Stupidity. I recall in my birthing days, this guy bought in for $300 at a min $2 - $50 max table. Think he had an “S” on his tee shirt as well.

Edit - add - his opening salvo was $2.

    Subtlety certainly has its place.

I’m currently spreading $10/$15 depending on table minimum to 2x$100.. Initial buy in $200 and just rebuy $200 at a time if need be. The pit loves seeing guys pulling hundreds out of their pockets over and over. Makes you look like a degenerate

Not necessarily. Most casinos have a threshold where they need approval for a buy-in. In many places, if it's less than 200-300, dealer calls it out, but doesn't wait for a response.

Surveillance, no. There's no ear in the sky (at 99.9% of places).

I do not understand this thread actually despite me being a veteran. If buy in is so troublesome and raises suspicions why can’t you buy at baccarat table then later after some time go to the blackjack table? Then you will not have anyone see you buy in at the table you play

Someone raised buy in to look like you losing is great others put it small buy in so that pit will not be called so consensus do we aim for pit to see our buy in or no?

Two reasons I started this thread 1. Initial buy in when we are making minimum bets. 2. Subsequent buy ins when the count is good, we are making big bets, but nevertheless losing.

    1. Most gamblers I observe buy in for 10 to 20 times the bet they start with. Many buy in for less, lose quickly, repeat. Few to none buy in for more than 20 times their bet.

    2. Most gamblers only increase their bet when they are winning - so they can “ gamble with the casino’s money”. Very few increase bets when they are losing, and are considered “desperate” when they do so, because most gamblers have done this once or twice themselves, and gamblers remember big losing streaks and superstitiously do not repeat the offensive activity.

2b. Some gamblers have a lot of money, and play at random. Sometimes minimum bets, sometimes a black chip on two spots - but they are not counting. These guys carelessly pull out another 1000 and keep making their black chip bets. These are the guys I want to emulate. They are comfortable, natural, confident, and move their bets up and down whenever it pleases them.
