If cutoffs are same amount on 8D as 6D it is essentially the same game. I have done fairly well on 8D with decent pen and LS. Crowding can be the problem at DP. They do have more tables that they open upstairs.
8 deck with 1 and a 1.5 deck is a game you can make a good profit on but the problem is you won't always find 8D games with that penetration. I would not play an 8D games with good rules that cut off 2 decks because it is very hard to get a SCORE of 50 or above. The only exception is if you are using a very sophisticated count system with full indices then 2 deck cut off in an 8D game using the Wongin/Wongout method you could get a SCORE of 50 or higher.
You don't need a score of >50 to make the game playable. Does it help...of course but according to CVCX an 8 deck game with 4.5 decks cut will give you a score of 39.46 using Hi Lo with sweet 16 and Fab 4 indices. The EV is $49.36 an hour with a ROR of 20.2% with a BR of 10K (playing $10 a hand spreading 1-6)
