Last week I played in a game where the dealer got a 2 card 20 quite a lot, and when I got the 20 she would get blackjack or draw to 21. I had 9 double downs and won 2 of them. I won one high count bet - one! Pen was good, and there was one other player. Sometimes it's just not your day, and that really sucks.
There is one scenario you probably have experienced in which you know the casino is not cheating. What happens is that the count goes positive and sure enough the big cards and aces begin to fall... but not on you. you are part of the reason the count stays plus. Your mindset gets to where you begin to anticipate getting a hard 15 followed by a brick, while you watch everyone else rake in on naturals, twenties and double downs. Even though the dealer may also get junk, you always lose because you must hit first, or if you get a hard 17, he hits his 5/4 catching a 6 (you hold your breath), 5, in that order.
