Dealer Error + Amazing Pit Boss

Today during a double deck session I encountered the nicest thing I've seen any pit boss do.

I had split a pair of sevens against a 3, and on the second one got an ace. I put another chip to double but the dealer did not give me a card and quickly turned over her hole card, a ten.

Before she drew on her thirteen I called out the error and she in turn called over the pit boss. Pit boss said ok give him his double card. I got a ten for a hard 18 and dealer proceeds to draw an 8 for 21.

But then something amazing happened. Pit boss says to switch my double card and the dealer's card! She put her arms up and said "Wait, everybody calm down! I have the authority to do this and I am feeling nice. Switch those two cards!"

Everybody wins, and I get a $150 swing in my favor that should have gone the other way. Amazing.

Generally speaking, actions like this cost the casinos nothing since most customers will eventually lose their loss-budget anyhow. Indeed, they gain because they engender loyalty from customers. Why casinos have not learned this simple lesson is beyond me.

Agree with this, though I have to point out that in my locale, what they did would be considered illegal.

Two things are allowed to happen here.

    1. I can take that dealer card, and play out the hand

    OR

    2. I can take my bets back, while the dealer plays out the hand.

This has happened probably 40-50 times this year for me, and I've yet to see it play out like the OP, that was a really nice early Xmas gift indeed.

I've seen a handful of situations like the OP and think it was a great floor call in all cases. Usually everyone at the table remarks on how generous it was. That is some great advertising for very little cost.

It also may have been to mitigate the extreme ploppy heat being given by the third base lady. She felt like she had the right to tell everyone (especially me) how to play their hands and it was getting on everyone's nerves.

She has the right to tell you and you have the right to do whatever you want. I had a guy wanting to tell me what to do all the time. I ignored him. Finally he was begging me to stand and I told him that I really want to stand on this hand but you are making it really difficult because I hate being told what to do. That was the last advice or plea he made.

You're right, T3. She definitely does have the right to say what she wants, but yeah I have the right to ignore it.

I told her "unless you give me a cut of your profits every time you win because of a play I made, then I will continue to play my hand how I please."

Only reason I stayed at that table in the first place was because of lots of juicy double and split scavenging opportunities.

Enough of this 'chatter' about the lady at third base or the lady you went to third base with or whatever. Norm and/or 21forme, what are your thoughts about the third base coach lady?

Third base lady was obnoxious and drunk. They nearly kicked her out. I wish they did.
