On Tuesday the Supreme Court ruled that Michigan cannot block off Res. Indian Casinos because the states legal challenge is barred by Tribal sovereign immunity! In a 5-4 decision the Supreme Court ruled the state could not shutter the Bay Mills tribes casino which they opened, before the state used force to close it in 2010, 90 miles south of it's UP Res. This is very good news for those of us that desire intense competition in Michigan and other states between competing casinos for our playing dollars. This will surely lead to a Lansing Mi. casino operated by Kewadin, the re-opening of Bay Mills in the LP, and many other locations in Michigan with UP Tribes moving South where the major population and money is.
