Ben Affleck banned from Hard Rock Las Vegas after counting cards!

Ben Affleck wasn’t counting on this.
Hard Rock Las Vegas officials aren’t bluffing as they have banned the forthcoming “Batman” star for life from playing blackjack at the casino after he was caught counting cards, a source close to Affleck told the Daily News.
“You are too good,” a security guard told the Oscar-winning star Monday night at the casino’s high-rollers’ blackjack table, the source said.

Counting is so easy, Ben Affleck can do it! I really have to wonder if being a celebrity would be an advantage or disadvantage. You'd have a lot more leeway but also a lot more attention.

Heard he got put into OSN a week before this. Not sure if true though.

Vegas stores have been ridiculously sweaty and are backing off everyone.

I'm pretty sure they have backed off non-counters and poor fellas don't even know why.

Glad Ben was, is, an AP, figured he would be with his personality and money. "Counting is so easy", depends how you do it and how you apply it,,,I would say if you find it "so easy" you are either a true genius, or not nearly as good as you think you are. I put alot into my game, probably far more than most, I would not call it easy, but very challenging is a better way to put it, as least the game as I play it.

I do know that Ben A. will now feel the sting of OSN and a reputation as a "cheater", and his playing time will be cut way back, if he can play at all. That really sux.

BA doesn't know how to win. Still thinks counting cards is all you need.

    Baloney!

The guy was playing DD and spreading to 100K, of course he can win at that game with that spread, counting, especially if side counting aces!

He is also getting alot of fresh press on the barring, he will be shot down with all casinos now,,,what a shame. He was flyered all over Vegas, and now all over the globe.

He had to have played there before, I was playing 2x1000 there once and just got told no more BJ. I find it very hard to beleive they bought him a car to take him to his hotel, there has to be more to this story for this to fit in.

I see nothing remarkable about this story. It was widely reported that Affleck had very recently been reported in OSN. So then a week later, he shows up at one of the sweatier properties in Vegas, a property that is a heavy OSN participant, and a property that he has lifetime winnings of nearly a million dollars, where he spreads big in the high limit room, where all eyes are on him. What did he think would happen? To me the story would have been remarkable if he wasn't backed off. I suppose he thought being a celebrity would buy him some leeway. Well it didn't. Not at that property. Not at those levels. And not throwing it in their face like that.

I am not wishing anything bad on Affleck or any one else for that matter, but some of us work hard plying this trade or skill. We do our homework in identifying what we can and can't do and still remain in the comfort level of different stores. What is and isn't acceptable. What will and won't be tolerated. So, to have some ying yang like him come in and do as he pleases while the casino looked the other way, would be a bit disheartening. He got what he deserved.

If BA does count, and apparently he does, I would be curious to learn of his initial exposure, attraction, interest and methods to achieve what is now a banned rec. activity. Damn the bad luck...translation... a VERY big BR and NO COVER.... hey I'm a Hollywood celeb, let me play no matter what...NOT!!!

Perhaps Norm & Richard have some left coast connections for a truely memorable guest chat.

I thought it was fairly common knowledge that both Affleck and his 'also turned celebrity', Boston buddy, both 'dabbled' in card counting, especially in their younger days. Haven't heard a whole lot about it in recent years until this story, but I had read things years ago.
