Boot Camp is a very useable solution for running CVBJ and CVCX on an Intel mac. Windows XP installed on my MacBook Pro in less than an hour. Boot Camp (which is beta software from Apple) includes a burnable CD which contains pretty much all the necessary drivers for running Windows XP on Apple's Intel macs. No need to search for drivers on the internet or load hardware manufacturer's CDs.

I have previously tried to run CVBJ with Virtual PC on an upgraded G3 (unusable) and on an Orange PC card (flakey and limited). Running the QFIT programs on the MacBook Pro was a completely different experience.

In 15 years of using macs in several businesses and at home, I have never felt the need to use any kind of PC emulation or virtualization software until I started getting interested in blackjack. Boot Camp is the first solution that I have used that is worth the trouble. Still, double booting is less than ideal so I am interested in trying Parallels Desktop for Macintosh. Unlike Boot Camp, which essentially turns you mac into a PC by booting into Windows, Parallels allows you to run Windows as a separate application (virtual machine) without quitting OS X. It is much like Virtual PC on power PC mac but unlike VPC there is no need to emulate the X86 environment so it runs much closer to full speed. Parallels claims that performance is 90% of running Windows natively. This should be more than fast enough for running QFIT software and internet casinos and poker software - which are the only reasons I can think of for using Windows XP on my MacBook Pro.

Pros: Boot Camp runs Qfit software and proprietary windows software for Internet Casinos as fast as on a new Windows PC.

Cons: Boot Camp is beta software and there are a few glitches. The trackpad seems a little flaky. There is no native solution for right-clicking on the trackpad or on the typical one button mac mouse. You need to do some keyboard re-mapping to make up for the lack of control-alt-delete on the mac keyboard - the delete key on the mac is really a back space key.
