> Is Nashville really the closest airport to Tunica?
> That still seems like quite a ways.
I've only played Tunica once, on the way to Walmart headquarters( like visiting the Imperial Death Star ). I stayed at the Best-Western/Monarch. This is right across from the Peabody but at a fraction of the cost. It is an easy walk to Beale Street. This place is a little older, but perfectly safe and clean inside.

To be able to play Tunica, then walk around Beale street later on is a great experience. It is a very quick and easy drive from the Memphis Airport/Car Rental to Downtown. Parking is limited, however, and you have to Valet at that hotel. The key is to simply park your car right in front of the hotel. Grab your bag, lock the card and go to the front desk. They won't just run out and get your car. But as you check in you arrange for the parking.

As I recall, driving from downtown to Tunica is a little under an hour, but I found Tunica hard to navigate, so spread out. There is a cluster around Sams'Town( 3 places ). Sam's Town and Grand Casino were both nice places. Bally's was a dive in my opinion, and the Hollywood not much better. But I did play true single deck at Grand Casino( 25$ ). That was in 2006.

Hope this is informative for anyone new to Tunica/Memphis.
