Bettie: San Diego gaming threat grows

Pala Casino's expansion highlights growing competition of tribal gambling.

    Ouchez: Thanks Bettie,

It is so hard to say if this new casino expansion is good or bad for the community.

I see Davis just signed a compact for a new casino.

If they offer just rip off games and you do not even have a fighting chance of winning I think they are bad.

I only know of one area in the Midwest were competition between casinos has translated into better games, promos, etc.

I know the Detroit casinos have hurt more than helped the community, overall. they may bring in tax money but at a huge expense to the urban Detroiters.

I live 30 min from a beautiful Indian casino but the games are so bad and everything else so bad that I drive right past it another 3 hours to find very fine games.

As I said, to many of these casinos just don't even want to give you a chance, just the absurd "entertainment" mantra.

Not really sure what the threat is.
