How many AP documents have you read?

    By AP docs, I mean:

    • Books
    • Team manuals
    • Significant studies circulated among APs
    • Magazines/Newsletters (To keep the number from getting ridiculously high, any number of Blackjack Forum mags or Uston newsletters or any other such would count as one per source.)

I figure about a dozen good documents, and a lot of junk documents.

Depending on the quality of the junk documents, I may or may not keep reading once I determine they're junk. (Sometimes, there's an interesting idea, or something that steers one to a good idea mixed in with the bad math. Sometimes, there is humor value.)

I'm also counting at least one paper by Diaconis on shuffles in the good list, since I believe it's useful.
May the cards fall in your favor.

I read everything I can. My results have been: A few are absolutely worthless; some mostly bad but you can dig a few nuggets of info out; some just a rehash of someone else's work; then there are the few that you'd call a gold mine. You don't know unless you check them out. I try to keep an open mind when I first read them and not judge it till the end. But at that point, I go back and really scrutinize in math, logic, and just plain common sense.

Certainly way more than 40... probably around 100 in total.

Echoing VABJ's comment, not all were equally useful.

    My library is rather extensive.

I have nearly every BJ book ever published (in English),

With the exception of those penned by luminaries like Sclobete and Patrick.

C'mon Z - take it easy on Frank Scoblete. He's a great writer. Loved his book: "I Am a Card Counter". Those were the days...

About 7 feet of shelf space with nothing but books on advantage play not to mention numerous unpublished and published academic papers and bj21 archived posts.

I was going to say that "liar" was too strong a word. He writes for a different audience. Then, I remembered Speed Count, his Craps stuff, and support for Walter Thomason. These things really bother me.

I clearly didn't scale this poll correctly. Perhaps I should have done it on feet.

I must admit, Walter Thomason, was one I didn't read. I must have missed it somehow...
