What count system do you use and why?

So when i first started last year, i would use Hi-lo. With the rounding system and half deck estimation for a double deck game with 50% pen. I switched to knock out full index in feburary. I find i am able to play longer hours with less fatigue, and make decisions much quicker and not have to pause as much which can draw attention. I like hi lo for deeper dealt games, when i go to vegas and play anything over 60% dealt double deck i will switch back to hi lo. Now what TC rounding is best? Floor?

Even the "rain man" can not win with 50% pen. My had is off for those with a lot of gut, money and skill to play that pen.

50% DD can be beaten heads up. Besides the intangibles of personal skill, the issue becomes one of rules, and especially tolerance (tolerance equating to spread).

    Especially with a big spread.

There is a casino near the largest city in the midwest that has lousy pen (3.5/6) on their shoe games, but took big action and big spreads. Plenty of guys beat that game until they became intolerant to the spreads.

I use a 25$-250$ spread and it still gives me a 100$ hourly. Not bad. Just massive swings and big bankroll requirements. You need 300 max bets instead of 100 lol

I recall a modest 1x25 to 2-500 spread at DD on centre cut. Seems to me I scored a couple of snappers

FELT. It's fairly easy (duh!), and is great for shoe games.

Incorporate the FBM ASC to assist - for feel good play.

I used FELT for about 800 to 1000 hours but i felt the same way as KJ did . It is really not necessary for shoe games IMO ,even though it is not too hard . I did make a few mistakes along with some slow counting from time to time while using FELT .

BigJer, "...trying to learn it"? You should have no problem with it.

If you're looking for an abbreviated form, years ago I simmed HiOpt II w ASC & found very little loss in EV by confining departures from BS to counts between 8 & -8.

Asking what the best counting system is leaves many important aspects unmentioned.

    In priority:

Effective counting system with adequate indexes

    Good rules and/or deep penetration

    Effective bet ramp / cover

These are not a "one size fits all", they are to be evaluated based on the game offered.

For example, overcoming the absences of a good rule may be had by 13 cards deeper penetration..............and there are others.
Luck is nothing more than probability taken personally!
