Why are you thanking him? Aren't you already aware that many APs have this fantasy that Missouri can't ban counters? I call it fantasy not because it's untrue, but because they just kinda made it up out of wishful thinking. Thanks for being on my fantasy team and not giving Boz proof? OK.

Yeah, no kidding the Ohio law doesn't spell it out. No kidding it looks the same as Missouri. Kinda convenient to forget about Flash's 86 isn't it?

Don't want to believe what? You haven't given me any facts to disbelieve. Just a bunch of opinions and inconsequential observations that happen in every jurisdiction. I believe you don't know and that you want to believe.

OK. I guess I've already proved that lots of places cannot legally ban card counters, since that's the experiment. Since you're so concerned about it, how about you call a Missouri casino and ask them what they are legally allowed to do.

What was your explanation? And what was the reaction and the result (did you stay and play)?

Ohio Gamimg Law - Theory and Practice

    I swore I wouldn't reply; I think we've hit a pearls before swine situation.

But I am curious, Boz, why are you asking? Are you considering a trip to MO, or are you just arguing for the sake of the argument? Do you actually care about Missouri gaming laws?

IMHO, it's whatever. You asked, myself and several others answered. Believe what you want.

Rather than put Boz on my ignore list, I think I will just take a break from the sight for a few days. Maybe with a fresh start I can put up with his argumentative nature again.

Why are you mad that I don't believe in things I read in the Internet? I wanted to know because I was curious. I'm not trying to prove that Missouri bans counters. I assumed that it probably was illegal, but no one has anything but opinion so far, except for maybe Ryemo. Nothing you can point to in the law that says "counters can't be banned". Some stuff says they take countermeasures. Some stuff that says there's a presumption that a random person shouldn't be banned if he isn't disruptive. I see nothing, you guys see a treasure trove.

Seriously, is there a reason why I must believe opinions based on links to homepages and misapplications of law? Am I doing harm to AP's business in Missouri? If no one knew, they didn't have to answer. And I probably wouldn't have talked to myself. Unless I was high at the time--don't expect me to remember.

T3, I know we're going through a rough patch right now, but I will always love you.

So here's what happened (long story short):

I Wong into a shoe and start blasting away. Things don't go my way, so I quickly find myself -$5K after the shoe ends, so I move to HL. But my large frequent buy-ins triggers multiple phone calls to upstairs and it doesn't take them long to figure out who I am (I've had A LOT of issues at this store).

After I move to HL, this PC walks in shortly after I start a new shoe and she starts whispering to the pit boss in HL. All of a sudden, the pit boss who originally didn't give two shits that I was in the room is now hawking the shit out of my game. I've been in this situation dozens of times before... The next shoe is definitely getting cut in half. The count starts to tank negative, so there's nothing to be gained by playing out the rest of the current shoe, so I start to leave. As I'm leaving, this PC follows me out and says "Hey Ryemo, can we talk? We've been observing you and we don't want you playing here anymore... Blah blah blah." I look at her like she's nuts and respond "you can't do that! We're in MO!" She has no response for me and says nothing... I'm assuming she thought I was an out-of-towner or just naive. I then tell her, "we can call gaming next time though if there's any confusion!" She still has no response for me...

Did I stay and play? No. I knew that I was about to be hit with counter-measures, so there was no point in sticking around. All this was happening as I was originally leaving on my own accord. I did come back a few days later though to take a shot on a different shift (which didn't work btw). They didn't try ejecting me this time around though. PC simply tells the dealer to cut the next shoe in half. As the shoe finishes up, I just decide to color up and leave.

Here's what I can tell you about my experience in MO: I've been kind of a nuisance to many of the casinos in my area for the last couple years. I became really well known in my area. If they could kick me out legally, they would have done so a looooong time ago. They tried once but it just didn't work.

This seems pretty convincing that they won't bar you, based on the claims you're losing 5K at low-limit tables and playing in the state for years without one back-off.

But I'm far from convinced they can't bar you if they decided to do so. It would seem to be their ongoing policy to not ban card counters, but contract theory doesn't have any application. It's a property issue. Suppose every card counter on Earth moved to Missouri. I don't think there'd need to be a rule change; I think they'd just bring the hammer down.

I'll agree they won't. Not can't. NJ is a can't state. MO can be the won't state. I don't know any other won't states. Good enough for everyone?

Man you are dense and pigheaded. It says you can only be barred for cheating or disruptive behavior. Counting is neither. Therefore you can't be barred for counting. They can send someone to get you to engage them in a disruptive way. It won't matter who started things. But you will be barred for the disruption not counting.

Im pretty sure they can't, not won't. This is not just my opinion, but also the consensus from many long-time pros such as LVBear, Bigplayer, etc. I've even heard this law referenced in a news article about a Hyland team member who was charged for structuring. Look if up. BUT... From what I understand, in MO (similar to AC), casinos can look for a reason to throw you out if they really want to. They can throw you out for being "drunk and disorderly" or "disturbing the peace", etc. So if you are caught counting, you need to behave! No profanity, no drinking is best, etc.

Oh, and no team play! If you read the MO Gaming Comission rules/regs, it specifically says it's not considered cheating as long as you're not using the assistance of a device or another person (similar to how OH is worded).

    MO Gaming Commission.jpg

I actually keep this PDF file on my phone in case I come accross any troube, considering how active I am in MO. This should clear some things up.

I still think it's 'Won't' because cheating is unlawful everywhere, counting is cheating nowhere, and disruptive is undefined except that it is both undesirable and legal. But it is basically as effective as 'Can't' in my view; and I wouldn't blame anyone for not making the same distinction that I do. I wouldn't be surprised if they never throw anyone out for fear of losing in court and establishing a precedent like NJ. And I wouldn't be surprised if an MO casino lost such a case in court. The problem with MO laws is they are weak; a reasonable person could interpret them to mean they might not be able to ban counters, so a casino could easily lose, and get a result exactly like the NJ decision requiring the commission to promulgate an affirmative rule before adverse action can be taken. I think it is wise you carry around that on your phone, because that's basically like telling the PB "OK, let's go to court and establish a precedent with YOUR name on it."

Thank you Ryemo for sharing your actual experience and knowledge. I believe I understand why people cite Missouri as a place that cannot ban card counters.

There is no need to establish a precedent. It is illegal in MO to bar someone for counting. It's in the code in black and white.
