    Norm Wattenberger: Free Blackjack Book

I have written a 540 page Blackjack book which is available for free at www.qfit.com/book. There is also a bit of free software on the site that may come in handy for shuffle trackers and teams.

In just two unpretentious, simple sentences, in his typically laconic and modest manner, what Norm fails to tell you is that this monumental work is one of the most important, comprehensive, pieces of research ever done on the game of blackjack, and were it in normal print-book form, would be destined to become one of the all-time classics in the field.

It was my pleasure to read the entire manuscript a month or two ago, and I have rarely, if ever, been so impressed with the scholarship and depth of knowledge displayed by a blackjack author.

Norm knows that it dismays me that he has decided to give away all of this knowledge for free, but his generosity is your gain. It's going to take you a long time to go through this treasure-trove of material, but when you're done, you're going to know more about the game of casino blackjack than 99.999% of all the people on the planet!

So, enjoy. And come back and let Norm know what you think.

    Don

    21forme: Question for Norm

    Norm,
Thanks for making this available. Any chance for a downloadable version? I'm going to be on a L O N G airplane flight next month and it would be a great way to pass the time.

Not planned. I may yet create a print version, at least of Volume I. But the web-book is 1,150 files set up in a complex set of directories.

    OldCootFromVA: Question

    Excellent work!! Much appreciated.

One question though: to minimize the learning curve and generally simplify things, how much difference would it make if FELT were dropped to a single-level count by only counting the red (or black, but not both) Twos and Sevens and halving the indices?

    Norm Wattenberger: Re: Question

Two suit-aware tags would probably make a noticeable difference. But worse, I have to believe it would make the count more error-prone. In particular, counting pairs of cards would be much more difficult.

That's a good point. Hadn't thought of that.

What a fantastic piece of work!

I really admire Norm's generosity in making this resource available for free. There are many takers in the AP world, and not so many givers. But ... still ... this is too generous.

Some Action: Re: Free Blackjack Book & a question

    Dear Norm

As always, your work is highly researched and well presented. A question about hole carding. If you had an pretty ideal situation where you were spotting the hole card 70% of the time, would you use counting to determine the bet size and the hole card tables to determine the play?

Hole carding sounds like it would be best in team play with the spotter playing/betting normally and team doing the bets and play variations.

Again, thanks for all this amazing work.
