That came as quite a shock. Throwing a man in jail for counting cards, now where is the justice in that? Then again, MIT Mike isn't exactly loved by the casinos. :-)

Several people have already indicated such. I guess there was a lot of traffic when I downloaded it.

If they had kept the team-play going, I doubt he would have gotten thrown out.
I believe they did this to try to get a BO for the cameras...and it worked!

It did look to me like he was trying to get douched out of the DD game for effect. All he accomplished was to bring heat on that game for everyone else by letting that be televised.
The whole thing was kind of disingenuous. AP is almost as much about losing as winning and standing there fanning his money like somebody in a payday loan commercial was a grotesque caricature. Failing to talk about the risks and losing sessions misrepresents our craft and these guys came across like a couple of scammers more than like AP's.
The real gem was the story about hiding $300K on his person like that for a domestic flight. I do not believe he was foolish enough to actually do that and risk provoking the authorities to seize it.
I saw this on H.B.O. when it was broadcast.

Better believe it cause it was done for real. Remember, this was BEFORE Sept. 11 and it wasn't unusual to see over $100K on a domestic flight between Boston and Vegas.

OK, so why would you hide it and lead the police to believe it might be drug proceeds or other criminal loot? The forfeiture laws have been around for a long time and readily enforced since the 80's.
If it's not unusual to see sums like that on a route, simply carry it in a briefcase and if anyone with a badge asks about it, show it and tell them you won it in Vegas, which is the truth. What's the big deal? Any kind of cloak-and-dagger business is obvious to LE professionals and makes you a target.

This is a catch 22, if you go on and declare you are traveling with $100K in cash, YOU ARE FOR SURE IN TROUBLE 100% OF THE TIME. If you hide it and get caught, you will need your attorney and eventually will get the money back, at least such was the case before 2001. Remember that these guys didn't have to go across the customs, these were domestic flights and the chance to run into trouble was slim.
All in all I simply don't get your point... Did you want to express that MIT guys were stupids? Really ???

Wait a minute. In your last post you said it was common at that time to see $100K on the flights between Las Vegas and Boston. Did everyone you see get into trouble and have their cash confiscated? If not, why would these guys think they would need to try to hide cash under their hats? That's bizarre. I call that asking for trouble, and a good way to physically lose the cash too.
The only other option was that the purpose was to hide the cash from the IRS, in which case they get an award for brilliance for talking about it on a television show.
My point is that the behavior they showed in this infomercial was not a good example for AP's, either inside or outside of the casino.

For this particular team... Do you really believe that 75 out of 200 civilians taking a flight from Boston were transporting $100K ?

Again, that makes you feel better to give them the "Award for brilliance" ? Fine.
