Maverick: A Call to Action - Association of Professional Casino Webmasters
Below, I have linked a video by J. Todd - the president of the Association of Professional Casino Webmasters. It is an appeal to webmasters and players to protest the recent online gaming ban. The Association invites webmasters to down load and distribute or to link the video on their web site. There is an appeal for players to contact their congressman or the White House.
In response, CasinoMeister (Bryan Bailey) has put the video on the front page on his website.
Internet gaming has long been profitable for APs.
Participation can't hurt - it might help.

Norm Wattenberger: A problem with our response
I fear the AP community once again will not stick together, even when presented with such a law. Some in the Poker community, instead of pointing out the obvious negative aspects of the law, instead are looking for an exclusion based on the claim that Poker is a game of skill and other online betting is not. That is, they want Poker to be allowed, but nothing else. The sports betting community can also argue that excluding football is hypocritical since horse racing is allowed. A NYTimes op-ed piece today argues that ?All Internet gambling is not the same.? The author suggests that banning sites like TradesSports where you can bet on political and economic events could destroy productive information tools. But, go ahead and ban other sites.
There exist many arguments against this bill in its entirety: censorship of the Internet, violation of international treaties, possibly creating millions of law-breakers reducing respect for the law, governmental intrusion into your living room, the failure of prohibition laws, ceding the market and profits to criminal groups, abolishment of an entertainment vehicle for elderly and handicapped without the liberty to travel, and once again tarnishing the image of the US as a ?free? country.
We don?t help our image when we don?t stick together.

Maverick: Poker is a trojan horse

I think this may be the trojan horse. Congress isn't going to recend the bill. Rather, if there is significant objection, the implementation might exclude web pockets. If the web pockets get excluded, we are back to where we were - maybe better. With congress not extending the coverage of the wire act the courts should be reluctant to do that. If we retain the web pockets, the Online Gaming Vendors will again be courting Americans.
Objections are already coming from the banking lobby. And I hear there are 12 million online gamblers to add their voices.
But there is significant difference between horseracing and lotteries verses casino gambling. I didn't realize it myself. It took Jon Stewart to point it out. See link below.
