Sun Runner: The Land of Oz

---from the LA Weekly by Marc Cooper via bj21 newsletter

" Another threat posed by MindPlay is that its tracking technology could be used to interrupt a game when the deck has turned too positive and advantageous for the player ... the makers of MindPlay say it will never be used as a house cheating device."

Really. Has anyone polled the casino owners?

"It should be noted that compared to Nevada's stringent standards and enforcement ... "

Whew. I thought they might be looking the other way.

Really now, preferential shuffling isn't illegal. The fact they use a computer to do it should not really bother anyone. I mean counting cards is hard work ...

The whole issue is if the computer tells the dealer where to place the cut card or not. I've been able to exploit some M.P. shoe games because some of these are deeply delt.

The dealer has that little screen in front which they seem to look at between deals but I don't know what it shows them.

At any rate it seems as if the whole thing has the potential to blow up in the casinos face if and when they get caught using it to alter the results. If they do that, it's only a matter of time before they get caught. All it takes is one pissed off ex-employee. Just hope it makes front page news.

In the mean time, when you see a M.P. table check out the pen. I've seen some with less than a deck cut off. Maybe they feel they can deal deeper because the machine protects them somehow. In the end I think they will go the way of the CSM.

My instincts tell me if they are cutting off less than a deck, and all other factors make the game playable, then they put the cut deep because MP told them this shoe is gonna suck big time.

Were a decent shoe for counting waiting in the shoe, I'm guessing just the opposite .. maybe two decks cut, or more.

Would be interesting to see the variation, if any, of the pen on a MP table.

I've only been in a couple of places that have it (by accident). One place has become a regular stop. Pen is consistant.
The good news: The tables are empty.
The bad news: You can only play through one good shoe. Hammer them and get out.

If the shoe sucks that means the high cards are probably going to come out early if it is deeply dealt and if the count goes up high they will probably half shoe you unless the slug of high cards is all the way in the back. It would be cool if you can figure out a pattern and beat them.

    Jack Fate,

I've seen this too, at the one MP table I've seen...

Of course, it was on a single deck table ;-)

Hi D.H. How you doing? The one I refer to is in your neck of the woods (I think). I'm not saying anyone should go out of their way, but if your in the area anyhow, almost always heads up.
