Hello everyone.

I am new to this site, though I have spent some time lurking the old forum. I figured I would make an introduction thread, with a small question, to introduce myself.

Background: I became interested in AP a few months ago, after I looked up BS for a cruise so I could play BJ in the casino. (Well, at the time, I did not know about the horrible rules and CSM's that cruises often implement.) Anyway, I stumbled upon AP. I was initially fascinated with the statistics and probabilities behind the systems and index plays. I tend to be very analytic, so any method of play where decisions are made based on billions of computer-simulations, instead of my instinct, interests me. I played with my gut before, with blackjack and sports betting, and the results have been shaky

So I purchased KO Blackjack and learned the KO count back in March. After getting comfortable with it and the limited index plays (which didn't take long, since it is easy to learn), I made a small change and used the true-counted KO system, mainly to identify earlier situations to raise my bet(s). I normally play at a nearby store that offers 8D ($5-10) and 6D ($25 minimum) shoe games. According to the QFIT calculator, the 8D rules, i.e., S17, DAS, DOA, NRSA, NS, yield a .43% house edge. To my question...

I have refrained from attempting to learn or read too much into any other systems for my shoe games, because I have been a victim of paralysis by analysis in the past. I do not want to miss the forest for the trees. Time spent learning a new system is time spent not playing BJ. I guess my poorly-worded [and prefaced] question is: based on my usual store game and rules, is there a point at which I should seek to learn a different counting system, e.g. Omega II or Zen?

Thanks in advance, for any opinions and advice.
