    BJ1945: LVC backoff

I got backedoff at the Las Vegas Club. Only spreading 1-4 red at single deck. Seems like a very sweaty place.

Are backoffs shared with other Barrick places - like the Plaza?

Obvious question is "what did they say?" IE "no more BJ this shift." "no more BJ here, but you may play other games." "get out and stay out!" etc...

As the number of casinos offering "real" single deck (meaning 3:2 BJ payout) continues to dwindle, those still offering it have no choice but to become more protective of their games, since they are a magnet for both counters and strong BS players. So yes, they can be quite sweaty, and who can really blame them?

That being said, someone with a $20 max bet is obviously no threat to their bottom line, so I have to suspect one or more of the following:

[*]You were so obviously and brazenly counting that you left them no choice.
[*]You did something, perhaps unwittingly, to annoy a dealer, pitboss, or the other players.
[*]You "camped out" for an extended period of time and they simply got tired of looking at you.[/list]

In the Jackie Gaughan days, they did not share info at all. However, Barrick seems more organized. I have received mailings concerning joint promotions between the casinos, so they may well now be sharing more info. Nonetheless, my guess is that they would not bother to inform the other properties about the red chip counter that was killing them. :-)

BTW, I would be remiss in my duties as host/moderator if I neglected to point out that this really belongs on the Las Vegas Everything page.

No more BJ, but other games ok.

    OK. A typical "back-off".

    1. I doubt they relay such, so long as it isn't a daily happening..

    2. I'd lay low there, or else play on a different shift. Best probably to lay low there for a while _and_ then play on a different shift/pit.

    3. Or else buy a wig.

So, what's an acceptable spread at double deck?

This is a problem. Many people approach the double deck game like a single deck game, when the reality is that it more resembles a shoe.

To make any reasonable profit at DD, it is necessary to spread at least 1-6 on games that are S17 and/or allow surrender, and 1-8 on H17, no surrender games.

Since most casinos watch their DD games fairly closely, this can be tough to do without drawing a lot of heat. I would hazard a guess that more people get backed off double deck games than any other type of game.

So how were you spreading and how long were you playing?

Spreading 1-4 red. I was moving between a couple of tables, maybe 2 hours. Tables were not full - light crowd.

I guess the 45 min rule for camping out applies to a casino and not to a table.

Yeah, 45 minutes is pretty standard if the joint has one pit and is not very crowded. Were you raising bets after losses and other nasty habits. You may need to work on your act if you can't spread 1-4 in red.
