    Well, I thought that the small bettor was under scrutiny, so I would not play at the same table with another counter and expose me, especially when betting large amounts. OK, maybe the couple did not see him counting before they sat down, and then decided to hit and run anyway after this shoe.

    OK, this is an issue. I also would hesitate to take action. It also would be nearly impossible after just one shoe. But nevertheless I would get suspicious, even if not doing something against :-)

    I agree. When you are one of the big players in a casino, rat-holing can be very difficult when nobody else at the table is playing the same color as you.

    If you're a black chip player, go to a quarter table. Get greens with blacks, mix your bet colors and rathole the greens. Do it at a rate of about 3 x your hourly EV, and let your wins and losses take care of themselves. Change tables often.
