    ODAAT: Simulation software ?

I am trying to evaluate which simulation software to get. I have CVBJ and have looked at the Qfit site regarding CVData and CVCX. I am still unclear about what I can do with this. I also have received output from others from Pro BJ Analyzer. Anyone care to offer their insight?

    Thanks,

I have recently been running many sims with CVCX and CVData.

CVData is blazingly fast. On my "budget" system that I use for Windows programs (1.6 GHz AMD Duron CPU, 258 MB RAM) it will sim a billion hands in just over ten minutes.

CVCX presents data in a format similar to that found in Chapter ten of Blackjack Attack (hence the name), but with many more parameters. In addition, the various data adjusts "on the fly" when a parameter is changed.

For example, you can immediately see the resulting changes in SCORE, EV, win rate, ROR, etc., as you increase or decrease penetration (which can be done in 1-card increments) for a given set of rules.

If you were to print out every possible chart and table that can be generated from just one CVData sim, you would have, well, a book.

If there is anything that can be done with other simulaters that cannot be done with CVCX/CVData, I am unaware of it. There are a myriad of things that CVCX/CVdata can do that cannot be done with any other simulator.

Here is just one: If you have Casino Verite set up for a custom count (KO, for example) you can import this into CVCX or CVData for your simulations with a couple of mouseclicks.

The Qfit products are competitively priced, and the service Norm provides is unsurpassed.

I don't mean to knock the other simulators, but why would anyone buy anything else?

PBA has not been updated in four years. QFIT constantly updates the CV product line and these updates are usually free to download.

I recently bought both the CV suite as well as the BJ 6-7-8 software packages. I haven't gotten around to use the CV suite, but BJ 6-7-8 thus far has really impressed me. It has a stand-alone game and it also offers quite a few simulations including Counter Strategy simulations for various game conditions. There are a couple things I don't like about this software, for instance, it doesn't have a risk-aversion function and the count indices are only from -10 to 20, but for $40, it's definitely a great value and very versatile.

FYI, the simulation to develop playing strategies run up to 3,000,000 simulations for each starting 2 cards. I think it translates to 13!*3,000,000 total hands. On my 2Ghz computer, it takes 11 hours to run this simulation...

That isn't a tiny bit close to enough. It also isn't the correct methodology. Since you bought it, try CVData. It is 50-100 times the speed for sims and far faster yet for indexes.
