doublebonusrandy: long term pro v. short term pro

long term pro plays a positive game with variance that doesn't bust the bankroll
short term pro is just a lucky amateur, hey people win the lottery every day, but eventually time takes its toll and the bankroll is bust and the amateur must find a way to pay for his hobby

It's not any different than any other gambling profession. The pro is constantly on the alert for good, beatable games. If he can't find such an animal, HE REFUSES TO PLAY! This is the way pro poker players are able to survive and prosper. Obviously, the variance factor is bound to be more pronounced in tough games (games that are marginally beatable).
