    mraudio20: Don, Average Bet?

    On page 31 of Blackjack Attack the formula for finding your average bet is 1/3(min. bet+ neutral bet+ max bet). Will this formula work for any bet scheme?

    No, no, no! That was just an illustration -- a quick and dirty simplistic example to give you an idea of what I was trying to show in the discussion.

    You can't calculate average bet that way. You have to multiply each bet size by the frequency with which those bets are made and then sum the results.

    Would it be correct to use the frequecies on p.23 of Blackjack Attack (table 2.1) for 6D?

    Yes, you could. Or use those from the Chapter 10 charts, for the precise game and pen you're playing.

    Your average bet does not consider the frequency of double downs,why? Wouldn't an increase of about 12% be closer to the true average bet?

    By convention, that's not what we mean by "average bet." The term is understood to mean "average initial bet" before any doubles, splits, surrenders, etc.
