MGP: Definitely go with the Wizard's strategy

Ok, so I tried to get a better fix on the rules of Pontoon and one that keeps coming up that you didn't mention is that players must hit on totals <15. The Wizard however has some hands doubling on those totals so I assume that would be allowed. My CA can handle that too, but the one that's really really troubling from CA perspective that I don't have time to deal with is how the ranking of hands is dealt with.

It may not be hard to force the dealer to stop at 5 cards, but it'll be a real pain to make a dealer 5 card hand beat any player hand of 4 cards or less or a 5 card hand with an equal or lesser total.

That has to be where all the EV problem is so I would just go with the Wizard's strategy.

Sorry it's not much help and you may want to send him an Ask the Wizard question about it given that your rules differ a bit from the ones he looked at. I left the strategy up anyway as it's so unusual compared to most other BJ games even if it might be completely wrong

This is bothering me enough that I might do it anyway but I'm not looking forward to it and so probably won't.

    Sincerely,
    MGP

Here are the sites with a bunch of conflicting rules, none offer ES so if your's does it probably has a positive EV assuming that the listed EV's are correct:

    htp://wizardofodds.com/pontoon
    htp://www.littlewoodscasino.com/help/pontoon.html
    htp://www.vipcasino.com/help/rules/sp_pontoon.shtml
    htp://www.bodog.com/casino/guide/blackjack-pontoon.jsp
    htp://www.carsands.com/game_previews/game_previews_card_games.asp?gId=66&tocId=2&id=881035&vid=g0k3k2r0e2h5a6k6j6i6t8v4&pc=5
    htp://www.williamhillcasino.com/rules_pontoon_single.htm

Note that I had to use htp instead of the full ht tp since it was triggering that naughty language error again...

We've had to take certain steps to counter a rash of attacks by spam bots. If you'd like more details, please e-mail me.

This is temporary, and I anticipate that things will be back to normal in a few days.

    Your patience is appreciated.
