    ODAAT: London Info Please

I am headed to London for a few days in December. I have already faxed my membership applications to the major casinos there and have received acceptance at four casinos. I understand the primary game is 4D(3/4),D9,DAS,RSA,ENHC(Dealer takes all on a natural). I wanted to get some feedback from AP's on this site. All recommendations and general intelligence is welcome. Feel free to email me.

    Thanks in advance,

    ODAAT

You didn't mention that insurance may be taken only when you have a natural, and that is a costly penalty. Also, I believe certain pair-splitting (fours, for example) is also prohibited, but that's not a big deal.

4's, 5's & 10's are not allowed to be split in England.

I think that the majority of casinos now have 6 decks although I am not certain about the situation with some of the casinos in London. My GUESS would be mainly 6 decks.

The only way that I managed to gain from the limitations in taking Insurance was to Insure the other players' bets, as most take 'even money'. However, I certainly wouldn't recommend it as a newcomer and I only did it in casinos where I knew the management well.

It was an interesting twist in becoming a 'partial banker' during the evening.

    Best regards

    Geoff

Interesting enough, how small the AP community is.It seems to me, that in England only one or two APs are playing, since this board should be one of the best frequented.

You are correct, not only are there few APs but to see correct basic players is very very rare! BB

Stick to LCI and Stanley casinos, mostly 4 deck and up to 75% pen, but you have to spread 30+. They are very tolerent heatwise, unless you go from 1 to 30+, anyone that blatant gets all they deserve in my book. Would recommend backcounting, heads up can be difficult unless you go early. Opening times 2pm - 6am (except on Sat - 4am). Palm Beach, 50 St James, Cromwell Mint, Sportsman, Rendezvous and if you are desperate or scruffy, Napoleons. There are other more upscale casinos, but you have to shell out ?1k for the privelege. Keep away from Gala at all costs, altho the one on Picadilly has craps, if thats your bag, along with Grosvenors Victoria on Edgeware Road.

Me in London? I'd rather go to the pub then a curry, and save my money for better conditions in other countries.

BTW, does anyone know how long a Belgium ban lasts for? Its been 2 years since it happened.

    ODAAT: Spread ?

    Thanks for the info.

Why do you think a 1-30 spread is necessary? BJRM says the SCORE maxes out at $68.80 with a 1-10 when wonging. A 1-30 play all SCORE is $54.30; 1-20=$48.84;1-16=$45.10 and 1-12=$39.52. These numers don't take ENHC(Dealer all) or not splitting 4,5, or 10s into account since I don't have the sim software to figure this out.

    Your feedback is appreciated.

Hi, you have answered your own question, ENHC and dealer takes all and no insurance does make a great difference when using BJRM. Jon Auston did in fact once have an option he called hi-loEuro which showed an off the top house edge of .59% whichI believe is about right. Unfortunately I have inquired as to aquiring the option but I am sure JA is a busy man and as yet, has not replied.Regards BB.

hi, here is a great trick that can get you a free meal, on the baize in all uk casinos is the insurance line, but they don't offer it. what they will offer is even money. when they will not offer you insurance, call a pit critter over and insist that what is on the baize must be done. threatean to go to the gaming board unless you get a free meal. works for me every time, also you will not get compted free beer or spirits, and most casinos have CSM's. in my view, don't waist your time

The British Gaming Board seem so uninformed about today's gaming climate that I'll be surprised if they knew what Insurance was and how it was supposed to work :-)

Good point about the printing on the layout though, I wonder if they should be accountable for having to change the wording to clearly define the procedure in Britain.

I suppose, strictly speaking, that the 2/1 payout is the same result as taking even money on a 'Blackjack' but it should be better presented on the layouts.

    Best regards

    Wong-in-out?

Go early for heads up, 2pm - 6pm. Go late for Wonging, 10pm - 6am.

    Backbetting?

Up to three players can play a single box, however the riders are not obliged to follow the main player, ie BJ insurance, doubling & splitting.
