    Parker: Welcome!

Welcome to to the Advantageplayer.com International Scene open forum discussion page.

This page is for discussion of blackjack games, playing conditions, travel tips, and just about anything of interest to those who live and/or play outside the USA, or plan on doing so.

The success of this page will depend heavily on the participation of those posting, since I have no experience and very little knowledge of blackjack conditions abroad.

It's your page, so lets make it work!

    Mr.Pro: Re: Rules

    Hi there,

Recently I came accross a good blackjack rule in a foreign casino, blackjack pays 2:1 if the cards a suited. What does this mean for the basic strategy player off the top of the shoe i.e what is the exact positive expectation?

    Regards,

    Mr.Pro

Assuming 6 decks, the probability of receiving an untied natural is 4.53%. Suited naturals comprise one-fourth of this total, so they occur about 1.13% of the time. When they do, instead of being paid 1.5 to 1, you receive 2 to 1, so, in effect, you receive an extra one-half of a bet as the bonus.

As one-half of 1.13% is about 0.57%, that is your extra expectation from this special rule. You can then factor in all the other rules of the game to see if this now gives you a BS edge of the top of the pack.

    Hi Don,

Thank you very much I'll do the math. I didn't expect to get a reply on a free site from such a blackjack master as yourself. I'll make a mental note to buy your latest book.

    Kind regards,

    Mr.Pro
