Penetration

I scouted a Casino this w/e in the NE (sort of) and didn't play a hand, must say I think I finally may be getting it. H17, no surrender, etc. Hand counted penetration and came out at six decks for a eight deck shoe so 25%. Here is my noob question.

For the NE, what do you consider average penetration versus the other games offered in a six deck or eight deck game. Not asking anyone to identify state or store, etc just impressions of what is generally out there as the good, bad and ugly.

Of course other areas might want to comment on other areas of the country, unless all of this is TMI.

83% or better pen count be found often on both 6 & 8D games in NE but 70-75% is about the average.

I don't like giving penetration in terms of percentages. 75% is mediocre for a six deck game and pretty bad for an 8 deck game. Given the dealer is hitting soft 17 and cutting off 2 from 8 I'd call that game a time waster. Save your money for something better unless there is some sort of cashback or coupons that might turn a bad game into a good game. (If your EV is $100/hour and the casino matches it with coupons then your bad game can become a good game if you can strike the right balance between hours played and coupons received. (i.e., you're playing to beat the marketing department, not the table games department).

Thanks. I'm for the most part a sim player and due to a lack of knowledge (also known as ignorance), I've been playing at 70% penetration on the sim. Which might partially explain my results (barely breaking even).

If you play on the sim, you should spread 10000 to 1 like in the Movie "21", or 1000:1 so you know what you should do on ideal situation. You should be way ahead not barely breaking even at 70% penetration. If you can't do that at home, you know there is something wrong of your play.
