    Las Vegas advice

1st time beginner card counter going to Vegas (been to Vegas multiple times but not since learning to count). Are there any specifics I should know, or be aware of, etc.? I'm leaving tomorrow morning. Thanks in advance

LV is the worst place in the country for card counters.

Make sure you can afford $50 min tables if you want to have some good games.

If you're on the Strip, definitely. But if you have a car, there are some reasonable games in "locals" areas in the suburbs.

Yes ! For some, it's where it gets hard to weight the expenses ratio to the EV of being on a smaller bank (otherwise you can afford the $50 games). If you can play $25 min it's already more interesting. If the OP is stuck with $10 - $15 min, it's hard to get a reasonable ration of expenses/EV that is worth the trip. Of course, it all depends on where you're travelling from... A Californian counter going to Vegas with his own car is in all likelihood ok, but if you travel from Detroit and have to rent a car + resort fees, etc. , it's harder.

    Mr. E.,

    1. Don’t move your lips while counting — seriously, I actually saw someone I know do that.
    2. Relax, smile, and make a little casual conversation. You’re there to win, not look robotic.
    3. Set and keep realistic expectations. This is a grind, not a movie montage.
    4. Remember the Kelly Criterion and stick to disciplined bankroll management.
    5. Don’t stay too long at any one casino.
    6. As I believe Ian Andersen says (roughly) in Burning the Tables in Las Vegas: don’t look like the classic white, middle-aged counter sipping water all night — but also don’t get sloshed either!

    Have fun out there!
