All assets - reasonably significant - mostly jointly held including a safety deposit containing a reasonably significant amount of cash.
Spouse without informing, takes the money and says absolutely nothing. When confronted, spouse claims entitlement. Is she justified or is spouse a thief.
Follow up
Dementia may be an issue. Spouses mother had a very serious dementia issue. Spouse has diagnosed anxiety and depression from 20 years ago. Medication was prescribed. Spouse despite family meeting agreed, and then refused an expedited head and neck MRI for assistance in diagnosis.
If not dementia, then other form of mental illness may be at play. A flipped switch during change of life occurred with symptoms increasing in intensity. A follow up add on prescription within a short time produced significant improvement. After a few years, I’m guessing resistance to medication created increase in bizarre type behaviour. If not mental illness, then possibility of medication anomalies occurring. In any event, spouse refuses help.
