Thread: New User Unsure of Drill Result

Hey Don! Thanks for checking in -- these are from the Flash Drills in CVBlackjack so they just show you multiple cards sometimes (like in the A2,2,2 v 6 -- I never saw just A2v6). The thing that has me thrown for a loop, besides that count you pointed out being weird, is mostly that the dealer has an '8' and the computer seems to see a '10'. I imagine the TC for these drills is just randomly selected and am unsure if it has anything to do with the RC or decks remaining -- I'm not sure how those two bits of data would affect the drills here in any case.

It would pay to check all the settings before you start. If this is just BS, then all those other parameters are irrelevant. But if they're there for a reason, in order to test your knowledge of deviations as well, then that can/will change some of the correct answers.

Totally! I think in this case it's okay as this flash drill was set to test my knowledge of BS with deviations at some TC provided by the app. This drill doesn't have us keeping / dividing a RC to get a TC. I appreciate your input!

The Counting Drills and the Discard Tray Drills will do that. Each of the drills attempts to train in a specific area. But I consider the games to be the final drill as that provides practice of all of the aspects at once.

That makes total sense! It’s nice to be able to break them apart and put it all back together. The 8 registering as a 10 still seems off but overall they seem great and will be a valued tool!

I don't see how an 8 can be seem as a ten.

Norm, in this screenshot it seems like it should have registered this hand as a dealer 8, but in the warning box it says dealer 10.

In the game, in the menu, go to File-Backup, create and email a backup to [email protected]. That will include the logs.

Sent over last night from my pe***@gmail.com address.

I just want to say thank you again. I made a risk-averse strategy using CVData a few days back -- and between CVBlackjack and AnkiApp I've crammed in the 79 deviations (-5 to 5) and it's starting to really stick. I can tell I'm slow but I love how in CVB there are speedometers and whatnot -- very helpful. Once I can afford to play more I feel confident my game will be 100% because of these tools!

If you're going to take the trouble to learn 79 deviations, why would you do it symmetrically from -5 to +5? Forget some of the negative ones and learn a few more of the positive ones, especially surrender.

100% going to expand my positive scope now that these are in the mix. -5 to 5 just seemed like a good place to start.

Edit: Expanded it from -5 to 10 (I already have the -5 to 0 deviations in my head so might as well keep 'em). It added 26 -- two of which I think I was missing from my -5 to 5 count (surrendering a 16 v 8 at 5 and a 16 v A at -5). Very doable. I find that creating flashcards that show me the whole row's numbers (haven't done column numbers as this doesn't make as much sense in my head but same principle) really helps. I also keep a visual table roughly in my head of where the deviations are. That alongside another flashcard deck of the individual choices really hammers it in well. Add in the CVBlackjack drills/game and it kicks in keeping the count, counting up the pips, and really putting it all together. I wish I found blackjack sooner but I'm hooked. Can't wait for my first long loosing streak! (wait -- I could do without that, but understand the math enough to get that even with perfect play/strategy it can/will happen)

I am 100% learning Surrender play/deviations but most games near me don't offer it.

What count is this? Did you perhaps mean -2, above?
