What does it mean to be "under cage surveillance"?

In a visit prior to my last, I cashed between $9,000 and $10,000 in chips at the cage. (I had bought in for a total of something like $5,000.) At one of my next visits, I lost over $15,000 before winning back over $10,000 at another table in the same pit, stashing $500 chips in my pocket (and not trying to secretly hide them).

As I continued to play, I heard members in the pit say I was "under cage surveillance." What does this mean? Did they think I might try to avoid cashing my $10,000 all at once? (I play rated and while I don't know if the cage people know me, but the pit does.) Was I under surveillance from the previous visit where I cashed nearly $10,000 all at once (so they could see if I was cheating or counting?)

This occurred at a casino where I frequently play. I'd swear everyone in the pit knows I count, but I tip very generously and no one that works at the casino seems to care that I count. I rarely feel bothered by the pit.

There was also a newer floor supervisor asking about cage surveillance and an experienced floor supervisor saying, "Why? He hasn't left the table yet."

So, why was I under "cage surveillance" and what does that mean?

They're clearly watching you at the cage. You really shouldn't cash that many chips all at once. You have no need to do that. Surely, you can think of ways to avoid that.

I also doubt that they all know you count but don't care. For those stakes, everyone always would care.
