    Question NOOB QUESTION (6:5 Blackjack)

Sorry for the noob question. I always heard that 6:5 blackjack shoe games ( & the rest ) should never be played and I understand that. But what about if there is good penetration (one deck cut off)? I'm red chipping in a small cardroom and I'm pretty sure the guys there don't know about counting. I don't know if it could be a good practice spot. my bankroll can only comfortably afford a 1-7 spread of min. 5 max 35

Only other casino close is a tribal (with better rules) that I don't want to lose unless I'm playing a much higher EV game down the line, but if I have to start there then I'll do that

There are a lot of variables that determine the house edge however, the house increases their edge by roughly 400% when dealing the 6:5 variant. In a standard 3:2 blackjack game, the house edge, for player playing perfect basic strategy (no counting and no deviations), is approximately 0.5%. That means a similar game with the 6:5 BJ variant has a house edge of approximately 2%.

If you estimate a 0.5% player advantage for each increase in the true count of +1, you would need a true +4 or higher to offset the house edge of a 6:5 blackjack and have the player gain the advantage - even with deep penetration.

Anything below a true +4 would be a losing game.

Best you can do is to practice card counting, at the dealer speed, deck estimation and hit/stand/split/DD decisions from a distance not seated.

A 1:7 spread would be a losing game even if BJ paid 3:2. Practice at home and build your bankroll. It's cheaper. Then travel.

I know it's not ideal to start out small but I've heard it's still grindable, I read that you should have 100 max bets so thats where I got that $5-$35 from.
Is it losing in terms of me not producing enough EV to get through swings? I'm curious, thanks

It's 100 max bets when your max bet is appropriate for the game. For example, in that 6:5 shoe game, you'd probably need to spread from 5-250

It's losing in that a 7 unit max bet isn't enough to overcome all the -EV hands you'd play, unless you're back-counting and playing +EV hands only.

The best investment you could make now is Norm's CVCX software. You can set the rules, your spread, etc., and see exactly what would happen.

I don't think CVCX even has an option for 6:5 "blackjack"?

Yes, it does if you create your own sim.

Norm - you should update CVCX. When the BJ payout is changed to 6:5, the screen blinks in red "Don't Even Think About It!"

Or if a casino selects 6:5. it shows a huge player edge.
