    Deviations question

I'm currently studying playing deviations. It says to stand on 16 against a 10 when the running count is positive. Can anyone explain why you wouldn't stand on 16 against any dealer card showing when the running count is positive? It seems like if the odds of staying on 16 are better when the running count is positive, why not stay on any dealer up card?

    thanks!

Short answer: Because, when the dealer shows lower upcards, like 7, 8, 9, or ace after having verified no natural, your chances of winning by hitting increase considerably. As a result, standing too soon (at TC = 0 or higher) is no longer the optimal play to make. Hitting is.
