    Hey Y'all,

Does anyone have the low-down on Oklahoma for blackjack? What I find concerning is the following statement:

    .................................................. .................................................. ..................................
    (From "CBJN")

Oklahoma casinos usually charge a "collection" (ante) on every hand, making games unplayable for many.
Some Oklahoma casinos waive the ante in exchange for the patron obtaining and using a player's card, and
some have ante-free days or ante-free hours during certain days that are constantly changing.

    .................................................. .................................................. ..................................

It does say some casinos do not charge the ante. How many precisely? Are the bigger casinos like Winstar World, Hard Rock Tulsa, River Spirit Tulsa, and Downstream more friendly at waving the ante?

Further, I am trying to get mid to heavy black chip action (2x500-2x700) down. Is this possible there? Or would they only tolerate a much lower spread?

I also noticed that a lot of the minimums there are very low (2$ and 5$ mins). Is this because of the ante charge and to not piss of patrons even more?

I have a solid understanding of the basic vulture AP slot plays, so this is something I can do as well to generate EV in case I find unplayable blackjack at a particular casino.

I will gladly exchange information with anyone interested, contact me @ [email protected]

    Regards,

    Dalmatian

    Dalmatian,

Most of the OK casinos charge an ante most of the time, which means that some of the time most of them have "ante-free" days or times. Some of the OK casinos never charge an ante (Downstream does not, if you use a players card), while the rest always charge an ante (including WinStar, the last time I was there).

If you check the casino website, you'll generally see their AF days or times. I used to play a small chain of casinos, where this one would be AF on Mondays and Thursdays, while that one would be AF on Tuesdays and Fridays.

Other casinos instead have AF times, like weekday mornings from 8-noon.

    Hope this helps!

Choctaw in Calera, OK and Winstar in Thackerville NEVER waive the ante. Too close to the idiot Texans. Choctaw now has $15 minimum. Winstar was all CSM last time I checked. Bottom line, don't bother with either of these specific joints close to the Texas border.
And I live in Texas, minutes from the state line.

I hear you. I was at Winstar last week and couldn’t find anything under $10 as minimum.

However, i find they keep some type of BJ variant side bet game around. Still an ante, your bet $10 , then a $5 side bet.

Depend on the side, bet you they get paid whether you have same suit, dealer / player have a king or something similar. In short sessions I’ve made ante, my side bet and some on 4/5 hands, third hand normally hits $25 as a minimum adding to my session and sometimes zeroing out a loss and placing in a positive stance. At which point I exit.

Osage in Tulsa had no ante days on Wed and Sunday last I knew. The best bj you can get around the area is Buffalo Run in Miami, ok. 2d/h17/ waived ante for using players card, but last I checked the tolerance was crap with practically any bet at or over $100 drawing surveillance. Not as bad as El Cortez but pretty close.

The joints in the NE park of Okl have to compete with each other and therefore "pay" the ante for you (understanding how they "pay" it does not apply to you as a player. From your POV, it's the same BJ as anywhere). The catch however, is you must have a player's card. So no chance for the combination of ante free and anonymity. So if you're backed off, you're backed off for good.
As indicated, black chips get attention. It used to be a haven for low stakes players. To some extent it still is. However some things have changed and not for the better. There was a place with S17 and no heat that is now H17 with heat. And another place had EARLY surrender, then late surrender, and now no surrender (management has changed three times since I have played there).
In T-town, I concur with what dharmaprija says on the ante free days at the indicated place (I'm avoiding mentioning the places directly by name in this post). Their tolerance was pretty good last I knew. At HR, all ante all the time for everybody AND they are sweaty (they're idiots)! So don't even think about it. At RS, only a $25 table is no ante, but it's not very sweaty.
Just remember that player's cards are a must regardless. Keep this in mind if you decide to take the plunge.

I'm in Kansas but I think the Indian casinos in Newkirk, OK do not have anties, but I haven't been there in about 3 years.
